Some Common Diseases that Requires Gastrointestinal Surgery

Gastrointestinal surgery is done if you have some diseases in your stomach. This also includes esophagus digestion, small and large intestine, rectum, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. Gastrointestinal surgery is done to remove a cancerous and noncancerous growth in your intestine. The gastrointestinal surgical procedure is quite simple and there are no further complications.

Basically, this surgery covers two specialties, upper gastrointestinal surgery, and colorectal surgery. There are some common gastrointestinal conditions where surgery is required. 

Appendicitis

It is an inflammation of the appendix. It is a medical emergency which requires surgery so that the appendix can be removed quickly. If you are not doing your surgery at right time then it will burst eventually. This will cause perforate infectious materials into the abdominal cavity.

Colon cancer

This surgery is also done to remove cancerous tumors in the digestive system or the part of the digestive system that has tumor and cancer. If you are having cancer in your digestive system then there is a high chance that the surgeon will remove the tumor as well as pancreas, liver, or intestine.

Diverticular Disease

It is a small pocket or a pouch that is developed in the colon or large intestine. According to research, there is no record why this disease is developed.  It occurs more inflamed which causes pain. You can manage this disease without a surgery but if it becomes more inflamed then it is recommended for bowel resection surgery to remove the part of the intestine.

Gallbladder Disease

Gallbladder disease affects your gallbladder. The main job of the gallbladder is to store the bile that is produced by the liver and pass it to the duct to the small intestine. If you have gallbladder diseases then it may block the duct which is connected to the small intestine. In this condition, you might need a surgery.

A Hernia

A hernia is a part of the body which comes through a hole or weak which is connected to the tissue which is supposed to protect it like the abdomen. You cannot able to feel it as it doesn’t come to the skin but you can feel the bulge under the skin. A hernia is very painful so the surgery is done very quickly.

Weight Loss

There are so many weight loss surgeries which are done to treat obesity. Weight loss surgeries like gastric bypass are performed by a specialist. There are no complications involved in this type of surgery.
