Gastric Band Surgery

In case of gastric band surgery, a band is placed around the stomach. Therefore the food that is eaten only fills up the small pouch that is created with the band. Since the pouch is small you eat less and don’t feel hungry all the time. The band can be easily adjusted even after the surgery. The band has to be adjusted a few times after the surgery to make sure everything is going well.

Gastric Bypass

In case of gastric bypass a small pouch is created using surgical staples. The pouch is then connected with the small intestine; therefore, the food is digested in the small pouch which further moves through the small intestine. Thus the quantity of food intake is less and you consume fewer calories.

Sleeve Gastrectomy

In sleeve gastrectomy, a large part of the stomach is removed in order to reduce the size of the stomach. Therefore you do not have to eat more to feel full. The quantity of food intake is less thus you consume fewer calories without feeling hungry.

Intra-gastric Balloon

In intra-gastric balloon surgery, a small balloon is passed through the mouth into your stomach. The balloon is either filled with air or salt water. This type of surgery also reduces the amount of food you intake and thus you do not feel hungry over and over again. However, this particular weight loss solution is not permanent and usually, the balloon is removed after a few months.

First of all, a small pouch is made in the stomach and then it is further connected with the small intestine. Thus you will feel fuller without eating much. This type of surgery is less preferred as compared to gastric bypass as it has many side effects.

Types of Weight Loss Surgery to Prefer

The goals behind weight loss surgery are to provide you maximum weight loss. However, not all of the above-mentioned surgeries are the same and hence their benefits and differences.

Usually in case of sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass person tends to lose weight faster than other types of surgeries.
  • The weight loss process is a little slow in case of lap band or gastric band surgery.
  • When it comes to complications in case of gastrectomy and gastric bypass the risks are higher.
  • Gastric bands or lap bands can be removed at any point of time after the surgery.
If you are planning to get a weight loss surgery done then make sure to consult your doctor and ask which surgery is best-suited for you.

What is Vasectomy? Everything You Need To Know

When it comes to birth control vasectomy procedure can be one of the best-suited options for male sterilization. It is actually the best procedure for those who planned to not have children. The procedure hardly takes half an hour and is preceded by cutting the vas deferens (a duct that conveys sperms and results in ejaculation). When these ducts are cut through a medical procedure it results in male sterilization.

However, the procedure does not create any problem in your sexual life or well being. It is one of the safest and most reliable ways for birth control. After a vasectomy, the testes produce sperms but the sperms actually die and are absorbed by the body. This does not affect sexual well-being, the testosterone levels are same, and the erecting ability is not rendered.

What Happens During The Procedure?

Vasectomy is a male sterilization procedure that is performed using local anesthetics. The process is not that invasive anymore and involves minimum holes without the use of a scalpel. The entire procedure reduces the pain and swelling caused as a result of the procedure.
If you are planning to get a vasectomy in Melbourne then here are a few things that you need to know.

You Are Not Instantly Sterile

After the procedure, you will have to ejaculate at least 20-25 times in order to clear out the existing sperm count. Even after the procedure, you can get the women pregnant so it is always better to visit your doctor a few weeks after the procedure and ask him if you are completely sterile now or not.

The Risk of Getting Women Pregnant is Still There

Although the chances of impregnating women are literally very low it still can happen. The chances of getting women pregnant are 1 in 2000 after the vasectomy which is very lower as compared to other measures like condoms or birth controls. In some cases, the disconnected vas deferens can sometimes get attached itself and carry the sperm.

The Testosterone Levels Remain The Same

One thing you need to understand is that the hormone levels after the procedure are not affected they remain the same. In fact, many a time men experience a boost in sexual experience as they do not feel stressed or anxious about impregnating women.

The Risks are Very Rare

Well, if you search about risk related to vasectomy you might see results that can get you stressed. The risks are definitely there but the chances of it are very low. In rare case scenarios, you might get some infection which is due to accumulation of blood in the scrotum. If this happens, then you will have to wait for a while to get it down. If the problem does not go then you might have to get another minor procedure done.
This rarely happens but even if it does the risk of affecting your sexual ability is very almost none.
